In late 2014, the Council hired a contractor (Lesley Cabott Consulting & Associates) to review the Common Land Use Planning Process. Their first product was a jurisdictional review. This review of a number of Canadian jurisdictions with northern regional planning programs was done through a literature review, targeted email correspondences and some telephone interview. This memo highlights some of the key findings from the regional planning jurisdictional review carried out in November 2014. A review of regional planning in Canada was done primarily through a literature review with some targeted email correspondence and five telephone interviews. Regional planning programs in Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Northern Quebec, Labrador, British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario were examined.
