On January 20th, 2011, the Parties to the Peel Watershed regional planning process signed a joint letter of understanding (LOU) that confirms the commitment by the Parties to the process, and clarifies its objectives, principles, timeframes and procedures. pdf Download the LOU here. (314 KB)
The Parties (First Nation of Na-cho Nyäk Dun, Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Han First Nation, Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, Gwich’in Tribal Council, and the Yukon Government) have agreed to send their collective comments on the pdf Commission’s Recommended Plan (14.41 MB) to the Commission by February 15th. The Commission, currently not active, will then reactivate and develop a Final Recommended Plan by June 30th, 2011. The Parties will then review this document and consult with the affected communities and each other. The Parties anticipate reaching a decision on the Final Plan by late fall.
