Based on the approved land designations, Yukon has put a combination of interim and indeterminate mineral (and oil & gas) withdrawals in place. For Wilderness Areas, there are 10-year interim withdrawals (2020 to 2030). For Special Management Areas, withdrawals do not have an expiry date.

The intent of the 10-year term of the interim withdrawals is to review these as part of a 10-year plan review. The plan states: “Withdrawal status reviewed as part of formal, longer-term public Plan review conducted jointly by the Parties.” (p. 35)
