The recommendation in section 4.2.1 of the Plans states:
LMU 8A, Whitefish – Porcupine Lakes, a sub-unit of Whitefish Wetlands, should be designated a Protected Area category . This area includes part of VG R-02A in the central portion of Whitefish Lakes and YG public land around Porcupine Lakes on the west bank of Porcupine River.
In 2010, the Parties agreed to make these changes; in 2019 they signed a management plan for a new Habitat Protection Area “Ch’ihilii Chìk”. The boundary of this HPA is nearly identical to that in the approved plan.Specific changes to the plan:
