Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in proposed modifications to the Dawson Regional Recommended Plan

May 9, 2024

In June 2022, the Dawson Regional Planning Commission provided their Recommended Plan to the Plan Parties (Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and Yukon Governments). That fall, according to their land claim obligations, the Parties collaboratively engaged with Yukon Communities and with each other on the plan. The next summer, they published their What We Heard report and began discussions between and within their organizations on whether each Party will accept or reject the plan or propose modifications (in accordance with 11.6 of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Final Agreement). On April 30th, 2024, the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government provided a comprehensive package of proposed modifications to the Dawson Regional Planning Commission. Next, the Commission will consider these proposed modifications, and those yet to be provided by the Yukon Government, and will offer a Final Recommended Plan to the Parties.

We wish the Commission well in their next phase of planning, and look foreward  to continuing our technical and administrative support.
