White River

This area mainly encompasses the core area of the White River First Nation.

In recent years, the White River First Nation has held meetings exploring Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area(s) within their Traditional Territory. This could mark the beginning of regional-scale planning there.

The White River First Nation does not have a Final Agreement under the Umbrella Final Agreement. However,Β  we believe that Chapter 11 land use planning under the UFA can occur in areas without land claim agreements if desired by a Yukon First Nation. YLUPC supports any Yukon First Nation wishing to undertake regional land use planning.

The UFA (Pg.8) names all First Nations in Yukon as β€œYukon First Nations” and therefore within the mandate of Chapter 11.
