The new NND Region will roughly be the portion of the previous Northern Tutchone Region (purple) within the red oval.

The Na-Cho Nyäk Dun Region is an area where “pre-planning” phase is the most active in the Yukon. In this phase, Na-Cho Nyäk Dun and Yukon Government (the “Parties”) are working, with the assistance of the Yukon Land Use Planning Council, to determine precise planning boundaries, a Terms of Reference for a new commission, and a Memorandum of Understanding that describes the relationship and expectations of the Parties. They may also be preparing information for the commission.

The area has not yet been defined but generally encompasses the Traditional Territory of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun excluding the Peel Watershed and Dawson Planning Regions and the Traditional Territories of adjacent First Nations.

The Yukon Land Use Planning Council is prepared to recommend planning proceed in this region once these governments and Yukon Government reach a Memorandum of Understanding.

A land use plan for the Beaver River Watershed is being developed jointly by the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun and Yukon Government.
