Yukon North Slope

Land use in this area is guided by the first Yukon North Slope Wildlife Conservation and Management Plan which was released in 2003 by the North Slope Wildlife Management Advisory Committee (WMAC). An updated Draft Yukon North Slope Wildlife Conservation and Management Plan was produced in 2021.
The area is within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and falls under the Western Arctic (Inuvialuit) Settlement Act.
Protected Areas:
- Two parks were established on the Yukon North Slope, as part of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement: Ivvavik National Park and Herschel Island – Qikqtaruk Territorial Park. These cover about half of the region.
The remaining portion, east of the Babbage River is withdrawn from industrial development.
