It is with great sadness that the Yukon Land Use Planning Council and Traditional Knowledge Circle express our deepest condolences on the recent passing of respected elder, Jimmy Johnny, of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun. We extend our sincerest condolences to all of Jimmy’s family and friends.
Jimmy was an advocate for protecting the Peel Watershed region, his backyard, where he spent much of his time. He expressed his love of the land through stories which he shared at our recent land relationship gatherings in Brooks Brook and Mayo. Jimmy is pictured here, at our Mayo gathering last summer at Five Mile lake, sharing heartfelt stories and making people laugh. He will be missed!
