Yukon North Slope
Land use in this area is guided by the Yukon North Slope Wildlife Conservation and Management Plan which was released in 2003 by the North Slope Wildlife Management Advisory Committee (WMAC), and updated in 2023.
The area is within the Inuvialuit Settlement Region and falls under the Western Arctic (Inuvialuit) Settlement Act.
Protected Areas:
- Two parks were established on the Yukon North Slope, as part of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement: Ivvavik National Park and Herschel Island – Qikqtaruk Territorial Park.
- In June, 2024, Aullaviat/Anguniarvik Traditional Conservation Area was established on the eastern part of the Yukon North Slope, led by the Inuvialuit, completing the network of the conservation areas across the Yukon and Alaska north slope.
